Netflix is coming to Japan in the Fall of 2015!!
The wait is over. Netflix is preparing to enter the Asian market this Fall, starting with Japan. Some overseas markets have posed a challenge in the past for Netflix, with the company struggling with payment and other technical issues.
These problems seem to be a thing of the past and Netflix hopes to use Japan as a stepping stone to a much larger Asian market! With Asia being a mobile friendly market, Netflix has invested significant funds to ensure that the new Japanese users, as well as its existing users, have an amazing mobile user experience!
As for content, we have not been told, as yet, what we might see available when they launch this Fall. With content and regulatory issues posing a challenge, the final say will be with Netflix, leaving us all to wait and see.
We at Netflixable, are expecting a curated (read: smaller than USA) catalogue with a good mix of titles across genres and interests. There will eventually be some titles that are only available in Japan, and as always there will be some titles that never make it to the land of the rising sun. We are already preparing to provide complete listings of the Japanese catalogue, and hope to have them ready within a few days of its launch.
Check back often to netflixjapancompletelist.blogspot.com for news as it becomes available, and eventually for daily listings of what's new and available on Netflix Japan.
